Angling is arguably one of the most popular past times for visitors to Swakopmund and locals alike. The cold and nutrient-rich Benguela current provides productive fishing grounds. Passionate anglers are spoilt for choice.
On a shore fishing trip you will venture up along the coast on desolate beaches, as far as 120 km, to find the best spot. Alternatively, you might opt to book a boat trip just off-shore.
Common species to catch are kabeljou, black tail, steenbras, galjoen, catfish and a variety of shark species.
On a deep-sea game fishing expedition (seasonal), you will venture up to 25 km offshore. The most common fish to catch are snoek, yellow tail, mackerel and blue shark.

The fish you catch is yours to keep, but sharks will be released.
